The educational ship "Komsomolets"

In 1902 the schoolship "Ocean" has entered in plot of the ships of the Baltic fleet. The ship during two thirds of century indefatigably served for training of personnel of the military seamen of Russian and Soviet fleet. In each campaign on him could pass marine practice 600 cadets. Displacement of the ship of 11857 tons, capacity of steam engines 11 thousand h.p., rate of sailing up to 18 units, crew - 296 men.

The ship had famous revolutionary and battle traditions. Per October days many sailors of the ship participated in storm of a Winter palace and then in civil war.

October 16, 1922 Lenin's komsomol has accepted on V congress patronage above Naval Fleet. In memory of this event by the command of Revolutionary council of republic from October 15, 1922, ship "Ocean" was renamed into a schoolship "Komsomolets". In shortly before war on "Komsomolets" there passed marine practice of thousand future commanders and engineers of the Soviet Naval Fleet, cadets of naval academies.

Within Great Domestic war the part of a command has left on a shore to protect Leningrad. After war "Komsomolets", having healed battle wounds, again participated in educational campaigns and more 15 years continued adequately to fulfill the honourable task - to prepare the staff of the military seamen.
